GOOD|GOAT is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit that protects the public's right to know what their government is doing — and holds officials accountable when they refuse to comply.
What We Do
Public Records Law
We file FOIA and state public records requests to compel disclosure of government documents. When agencies stonewall, we pursue compliance through administrative appeals and litigation.
Open Meetings Law
We monitor public bodies — city councils, school boards, county supervisors — for compliance with sunshine laws. Improper executive sessions and closed-door votes are challenged.
Ethics & Conflicts of Interest
We document official misconduct, conflicts of interest, and disclosure failures. When the evidence warrants, we file formal ethics complaints.
Supported Litigation
We support public interest litigation by aligned advocates and organizations, providing research, records, and strategic coordination.
