IS IT PURE ORIGINAL GOAT MILK?

Yes our milk is pure goat milk!

There is an easy way to tell if goat milk is original/pure or not. The form vitamin A produced by cow's milk is yellow in color which is why cow's milk is slightly yellow and butter even if un-colored is yellow. The form of vitamin A in goat milk is completely white (100% tulen = 100% putih) eg. goat milk is white. If it is slightly brown or yellow it's not original!.

If it says "Goat Milk" and is not white it has either been mixed (cempul susu sapi) with cow milk or it has added sugar and heated till the sugar has carmelised or heated till the natural sugar has carmelized destroying the natural immunoglobins in the milk (too much cooking is not natural and not original). Beware products that say "ORIG" but are not white (tidak putih tidak ORI). Some small packets of "goat milk" available for adding to coffee may not be 100% pure goat milk / one supplier says some of these are only 30% goat milk the rest is cow milk and he knows because he's the one selling them the powder.

Buy only liquid goat milk that says 100% or pure and make sure it's white if you really want to be sure!

Goat Milk is a health drink, used for medicine, replacement milk for babies, the elderly with weak stomach, or those allergic to cow's milk. You can drink goat milk everyday as often as you want. Goat's milk is healthier than cow's milk because the protein on the fat globules of goat's milk are not as sticky as the fat globules in cow's milk, goat milk fat particles are also smaller making it easier to digest than cows milk. This means goat's milk is less likely to cause atherosclerosis and is good for your heart!

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Our goats are imported from Australia and the milk has an avg. 3.5% butterfat, slightly higher and richer (and better tasting) than average goat's milk. Goat's milk can last 15 days or more if kept at 4 degrees C.

All of our milk is filtered, taste tested, bottled, and refrigerated < 30 min after milking. Filtering is essential to guarantee clean good tasting milk. Our milk is 100% original, no additives, and heat pasteurized to make it last longer.

Please mix the goat milk by turning the bottle upside down a few times just before drinking. This is done to mix the cream which seperates and floats at the top of the bottle. If the milk is old and slightly oxidised it may have a "goaty" flavor (oxidized caproic acid) which concentrates in the cream layer at the top and if you drink from of top of an unmixed milk bottle the flavor will be stronger. Fresh goat milk has no goat odor.

The most important thing to keep your goat milk fresh is to check that your refrigerator temperature is at or less than 4 degrees C or 40 degreee F. Many people are not aware that thier refrigerator may not be quite as cold as it should be. If kept at the correct temperature milk can last for up to 15 days and still taste like "just from the goat", eg no odor. Many people are not aware the refrigerator may not be quite as cold as it should be and you can buy a refrigerator thermometer at Merdeka Supermarket to test your fridge.

All milk, cow and goat both, naturally contain harmless bacteria but if you are concerned you may pasteurize your milk. Milk sold in stores is already pasteurized and does not need to be heated again. Heating the milk may change the flavor (if overheated the milk may have a thinner consistency compared with fresh milk) and most believe it is better to drink it fresh. If you really want to pasteurize the milk again, heat the milk in a double boiler or steamer above 72C and stir a few times for 5 minutes and let it cool.

To preserve the flavor of your milk, keep refrigerated, don't leave it out to warm, don't heat and cool repeatedly, don't mix warm and cold milk, keep bottle closed tightly, do not open until you want to use it, and don't store near smelly foods like garlic or onions. Again, it is a good idea to get a thermometer for your refrigerator and make sure it is around 4 degrees C, if you don't check your fridge temperature the milk will spoil quicker than it should.

You can freeze your goat's milk. Frozen goat's milk usually has a white cream layer at the top and a translucent layer below. After thawing the milk may have clumps of cream at the top but once properly warmed and mixed it will be evenly white and look and taste just like unfrozen goat's milk.

When goat milk spoils it will taste sour and/or have an unpleasant odor while fresh goat milk tastes like cow milk or better. Goat Milk may become "goaty" with age because some of the fat in the cream layer becomes oxidised, this off flavor concentrates in the cream layer so remember mix the goat milk by turning it upside down a couple times just before opening/drinking! Some people boil older "goaty" milk to reduce the "goaty" smell and make it taste fresh again.
